Avaancaa has developed a range of services aimed specifically at helping public sector organisations and their participants realise properly their responsibilities under the public duty based equalities’ legislation These are set out below.
The equality audit template meets, and goes beyond, the requirements for public sector organisations to undertake equality impact assessments as the bases for structuring their Equality Schemes. This has been developed from work previously done for T3E. This is set out in an action point format which , as the act demands, places a
premium on involving the target beneficiaries. Whilst it does not presume any form of managerial accountability systems or processes, it has been designed to slot into any number of accountability frameworks. A race equality version for the European context has also been developed.
Avaancaa has created a set of linked interventions aimed at assisting public sector organisations undertake equality impact assessments. This includes a training component.
Avaancaa has developed a unique training package designed to help organisations and participants understand and implement the responsibilities arising out of the equalities’ legislation. The training is based on the creation of fictional scenarios which can be tailored to specific public sector contexts and levels, and can be run as a basic one day, or two day advanced course. The course content puts a premium on intensive group work as the means to understanding the operational implications of the act, and a minimum amount of ‘chalk-and-talk’.
